3. What Is Cancer?

According to the American Cancer Society, cancer is a group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells; if the spread is not controlled, it can result in death.

Think of cancer as a Super Cell, with six characteristics that fuel its growth and make it very difficult to kill. One: It has atypical source of growth signals. 2. It rebuffs signals that normally inhibit excessive cell proliferation. 3. It ignores time-to-die signals that most cells acknowledge. 4. It is able to migrate from a secondary site and colonize. 5. It ignores the limits on the number of times it can replicate itself. 6. It builds a blood supply for malignant cells.
